Gas-lift reactor is suitable to carry out the model reaction in. It allows the reaction and the catalyst reactivation to run within one reactor unit. A GLR enables the catalyst to be periodically exposed to reaction and activation conditions in riser and downcomer of the GLR, respectively. The GLR max. productivity is only guaranteed in the reactor’s geometrical optimum, as the residence time in riser (reaction time) and that in downcomer (activation time) are only here shared optimally. Only one geometrical optimum exists for a given set of input operational conditions. GLR mathematical model is derived to help overcome the problem with the catalyst unstable activity by calculating the target GLR optimal geometry for any input conditions. The GLR model also predicts the target GLR max. productivity and other characteristics of the reaction system.
