No adverse indirect effects on development and survival of predator consuming Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt)-sensitive prey was found. However, predator consumed more Bt-fed prey than non-Bt-fed prey and preference for Bt-fed prey was confirmed. We suggested that predator preferred prey based on larval mass. They compensated for the nutritional deficiency of lighter Bt-fed larvae through increased consumption. It is possible that pest larvae with variable levels of resistance may be preferentially removed from populations. Results may have implications for insect resistance management especially in Bt maize seed blends.
