Svazek představuje korespondenci představitelů Pražského lingvistického kroužku V. Mathesia, B. Havránka, R. Jakobsona, J. Mukařovského a B. Trnky s více než padesáti domácími i světovými lingvisty. Ve výboru 581 dopisů psaných ve světových i slovanských jazycích přináší to nejcennější, co se v dopisech k vědeckému odkazu školy i dějinám strukturalismu dochovalo. Pozoruhodná je korespondence lingvistů Kodaňské a Ženevské školy, dopisy V. Mathesia, F. Vodičky, R. Wellka a rozsáhlá korespondence J. Vachka. Osud strukturalistů po druhé světové válce dokumentují dopisy adresované B. Havránkovi od J. Vachka, A. Isačenka a Ľ. Nováka. Cizojazyčné dopisy jsou publikovány v originálním znění i v překladu.

The volume presents the correspondence of the representatives of the Prague Linguistic Circle, namely V. Mathesius, B. Havránek, R. Jakobson, J. Mukařovský and B. Trnka, with more than fifty native and foreign linguists. The anthology of 581 letters, which are written in world and Slavonic languages, brings the most valuable material which has been preserved in the letters with respect to the scientific heritage of the Prague School and the history of Structuralism. What is noteworthy is the correspondence of the linguists of the Copenhagen and the Geneva Schools respectively, further on the letters by V. Mathesius, F. Vodička, R. Wellek and the extensive correspondence of J. Vachek. Destiny of the structuralists after the WWII is documented by letters from J. Vachek, A. Isačenko and Ľ. Novák which are addressed to B. Havránek. Letters in foreign languages are edited both in the original language and in the translation.
