Low genetic variability with no internal haplotypic structure has been found between and within examined populations. This indicates that the range of Oxynoemacheilus bureschi was not constant, but underwent expansion in the recent past. Lack of variation is ascribed to facilitation of dispersal due to seashore regression, confluence events and river capture during the Pleistocene.

Analýza populácií ukázala nízku genetickú variabilitu bez haplotypovej štruktúry, čo naznačuje, že areál Oxynoemacheilus bureschi nebol konštantný a v nedávnej minulosti podliehal expanzii. Nedostatok variability sa prejavil ako dösledok disperzie vplyvom poklesu mora, sútoku riek a riečneho pirátstva počas Pleistocénu.
