There is a larger K accumulation around astrocytes in GFAP+/+ than in GFAP-/- mice.The application of 50 mMK or hypotonic solution evoked a smaller swelling of GEAP -/- astrocytes, indicating the role of GEAP for changes in the cell volume during physsilogical as well as pathological states
