The paper analyses the functioning and position of the second parliamentary chamber in the Czech political system. Author deals with the effects of thevague definition of the Czech Senate's role and with problems resulting fromit. The last part of the paper is dedicated to the possible solutions ofthis situation and to the consideration of the redefinition of the Senate'srole.
