Several sections through the late Ordovician-earliest Silurian strata were examined in the Barrandian area (Czech Republic) to ascertain the effects of the glacial event on chitinozoan faunas. Chitinozoans have been little affected by glation itself. However, the ice-shield melting followed by global anoxic oceanic event was fatal for most of the ordovician taxa (e. g. Armoricochitina nigerica, Calpichitina lenticularis) whereas genera such as Spinachitina, Ancyrochitina or Cyathochitina flourished after the disappearance of the former lineages.
