A Nd:YAG pulsed laser (1064 nm wavelength) is employed to irradiate different metals (Al,Ti,Ni,Cu,Nb,Sn,Ta,W.Au and Pb) in vacuum (10 -7 torr) at the ECLISSE facility of INFN-LNS of Catania. The ejection of atoms by means of the laser irradiation is studied in terms of angular distribution, laser etchingyield, neutral and ion emission and plasma formation.
