Vitellogenesis in Khawia armeniaca was examined by means of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and cytochemical staining with periodic acid-thiosemicarbazide-silver proteinate (PA-TSC-SP) for specific detection of glycogen at the ultrastructural level. The ultrastructural aspect of vitellogenesis is compared with that in other monozoic and polyzoic cestodes. Conclusions concerning the interrelationships of vitellogenesis patterns and ultrastructural cytochemistry of mature vitellocytes to the various types of embryogenesis, are drawn and discussed

Za použití transmisní elektronové mikroskopie (TEM) a cytochemického barvení pomocí periodic acid-thiosemicarbazide-silver proteinate (PA-TSC-SP) za účelem specifické detekce glykogenu na ultrastrukturální úrovni byla studována vitelogeneze u tasemnice Khawia armeniaca. Byly porovnány ultrastrukturální aspekty vitelogeneze u dalších monozoických a polyzoických tasemnic a byly diskutovány různé způsoby vitelogeneze a ultrastrukturální cytochemie dospělých vitelocytů při různém typu embryogeneze
