New descriptive characteristics of continuous distribution, the induced location and core variance, are introduced. Their estimates can characterize data samples from a large family of regular statistical distributions, including the heavy-tailed and highly non-symmetrical ones, the mean and variance of which may not exist.

V práci se zavádí nové deskriptivní charakteristiky spojitých rozdělení, těžiště a core variance, vhodné i pro rozdělení s těžkými chvosty, které nemusí mít střední hodnotu a disperzi. Jejich odhady charakterizují výběry z těchto rozdělení.
