Due to low amount of the active phase, the whole volume of the transition metal oxides is accessible for the reactants and can be employed in the catalytic reac-tion due to the negligible effect of internal diffusion. The plasma jet sputtering allowed preparation of the catalyst that were more active than that prepared by radio frequency magnetron sputtering. Moreover, we have shown that the Аг+Ог working gas produces more active catalysts than Ar alone. Finally, we have demonstrated a synergistic effect on Co-Cu-Mn catalysts that were more active than their Co, Ni-Со or Ni-Cu analogues. A significant ad-vantage of thin-film catalysts supported on stainless steel meshes is the very low amount of the expensive active phase required for catalyst preparation and low pressure drop across the catalyst bed. In comparison with com-mercial pelletized Co-Mn-Al catalyst, the sputtered catalysts were up to 26 times more active, although the amount of metal oxides in catalyst bed was 563 times lower.
