This device consists of a modular trap-and-atomizer which allows a simple replacement of the inlet arm that serves as the trap. The device with a gold absorber was employed for Se collection. The relevant experimental
conditions (hydrogen flow rate, trapping temperature and volatilization temperature) were optimized by using 75Se radiotracer and AAS experiments. Several arrangements of the gold absorber were tested to maximize the signal/noise ratio. A limit of detection of 7 pg mL-1 was found for the optimum arrangement. Results of analysis of water standard
reference materials (TMRAIN-04 and SRM 1643e) provided good trueness and precision. The substantial advantage of this modular design is that it makes feasible to work with various modifications of the trap surface and with different absorbers placed inside the trap. The design appears to be promising for collection of other hydrides forming elements
