Annuals but also tree seedlings were more proportionally represented in the invaded vegetation, while perennial polycarpics, highly clonal species but also shrubs were more represented in the adjacent uninvaded vegetation. It is possible that both annuals and trees´juveniles escape the competition of perennial polycarpic aliens by possessing a contrasting life strategy. On the contrary, clonal perennials and shrubs may be exposed to the aliens´ competition effects by being similar to the invasive alien.
