Jede Form der Forschung sollte auf einem Studium des Georeliefs, der Topographie und der Hierarchie der fraglichen Fundstellen basieren. Eine strenge Kritik der archäologischen Quellen ist absolut notwendig, wo möglich aufgrund der Verifikation im Terrain oder der Arbeit mit der originalen Dokumentation, wo tatsächliche Funde der Relikte untersucht werden müssen. Překlad anotace This article deals with the current findings regarding early medieval architecture, analyses the pitfalls of past research and offers a variety of way to approach this topic. Any form of research should be based on a study of the georelief, topography and hierarchy of the sites in question. A strict critique of the archaeological sources is absolutely essential, where possible on the basis of verifications made in the field or work with the original documentation, where actual finds of relics need to be mapped.
