Both processes allow carbothermal reduction of ablated TiO particles with agglomerating carbonaceous species and deposition of carbon-coated TiO nanoparticles remarkably stable towards oxidation in air. The reported results suggest potential for protection of reactive gas-phase produced nanoparticles by carbon phase.
