Role of prices and oficial ideology were very important for diet of people in the time. For example a large part of society still maintained memories of the war and post-war insufficiency which obviously increased the importance of food in the social hierarchy of values. The term „obesity“ was changing from the point of view of regime. First there were efforts to interpret the growing number of obese people as evidence of the rising standard of living in the regime established after 1948. Later the medical opinion increasingly dominated in the anti-obesity campaign. There was for example criticism of the Czech "traditional" cuisine with its high content of fats and saccharides as a part of the fight against obesity.
