At high concentrations a clear toxicity effect of B on plant growth was apparent. At concentrations between 1 and 3mM B hypocotyl elongation was stimulated. This stimulation of hypocotyl elongation was proportionally greater with increasing irradiance. Analysis of photomorphogenic mutants indicated the existence of an interaction between B and light signaling pathways mediated by cryptochromes and phytochromes.
