It is focusing specifically on the case of Czech Republic. The structure of the paper corresponds to a severe shortage of research in this area and the fact that the point of departure for gender research on entrepreneurship is the proposition that women's entrepreneurship is influenced by the position of women in the labour market on the whole. Therefore, (1) I introduce the historical context of entrepreneurship in the CR, (2) offer the theoretical basis of gender in entrepreneurship, (3) the main characteristics of gender structure of the Czech labour market and its dynamics since 1989, and (4) suggest a theoretical background for research of life strategies of women and men entrepreneurs. My research is exploring business tracks as biographies and life strategies with special focus on gendered motivations and gendered structure of small business management.
