The Sanctuary of the Knife located South-East of the temple, was a unique part of the temple complex. It served the needs of the temple personnel and according to the preserved iconographic and written evidence, a long-term slaughtering of animal sacrifices was practiced there. During the excavation, over five hundred pieces of knives and blades were found. A sample of 26 knives and 33 blades were selected for use-wear analysis to gain complementary information about acitivities performed in the sanctuary.
