These temperatures were found to be quite close everywhere except for the sector between noon and dusk (12 – 20 MLT). Apparently there is a heating source at high L in this sector. It was revealed that during a moderate magnetic storm development the nighttime ion temperature dropps in the storm main phase, but exceeds quiet time values in the storm recovery phase.
