Spisy Erasma Rotterdamského obsahují nejen četné zmínky o Ovidiovi, ale také množství citátů z Ovidia a aluzí na jeho dílo. Zdá se však, že některými typy Erasmových pojednání Ovidius prostupuje výrazněji, kdežto jinde je spíše opomíjen. Článek na základě podrobného studia Erasmových vydaných spisů ukazuje, k jakým účelům citáty z Ovidia Erasmovi nejčastěji slouží, jak vysoké je zastoupení těchto citací a čím je míra tohoto zastoupení dána. Rešerše Erasmova díla byla dále rozšířena na další čtyři velké římské básníky, a sice na Vergilia, Horatia, Terentia a Plauta, aby se zjistilo, zda Erasmovy spisy vykazují stejné tendence i u jiných římských básníků. Výsledek výzkumu je znázorněn v sérii přehledných grafů.

Erasmus of Rotterdam mentions and quotes Ovid quite often in his works. It seems, however, that while some of Erasmus’s explanations abound in references to Ovid, from others he is mostly excluded. The aim of this paper is threefold. First of all, through thorough research of Erasmus’s Opera omnia and Correspondence, the purpose as well as the frequency of the Ovid quotations in Erasmus’s work are defined. Then, the research is extented to Virgil, Horace, Terence, and Plautus and by comparing the results, the position that the Ovid quotations hold among the references to other major ancient poets is determined. At the same time it is established which types of explanations can be considered the most suitable for quotations from ancient poets. Finally, the results are demonstrated in a series of detailed diagrams.
