This laboratory experimental study is focused on the effects of temperature (120 – 200 oC) and model flue gas composition from MSW incineration, on both mercury oxidation and capture by selected three mineral sorbents impregnated with sulfur and FeCl3 and comparison with carbon-based S-impregnated sorbent. The results show also the influence of gas composition and H2O vapor on efficiency of Hg-capture. The efficiency of mercury capture by the selected sorbents (zeolite, bentonite, diatomaceous earth) decreased with increasing temperature. Initial pore structure, specific surface of the mineral sorbents and dispersion/content of impregnation agent have clear effect on Hg-sorption. The study provides a useful basis for the development of efficient impregnated mineral sorbents for mercury removal, particularly in the air pollution control devices of MSW incineration plants.
