In this work, we show that in shortly preheated leaves the light-induced V to Z conversion and the induction of qE may not be coupled. In preheated leaves, much lower light is needed for V de-epoxidation than for the formation of the effective Z-dependent quenching centers. This phenomenon is discussed in relation to the current models of qE induction and V de-epoxidation
