This study deals with Old Czech printed translations of two German travelogues from the end of the 15th century. While the so-called Treatise on the Holy Land conveys the reality of the religious pilgrimage to Jerusalem, the second print, entitled The Life of Muhammad, provides basic, tendentiously tinged information about Islam, but also about the religious principles of the communities of Eastern Christianity. The study focuses on the shifts in the interpretations of these texts caused by the specific religious situation in the Czech lands in the 15th century.
