The ligand and its metal chelate were screened for their antimicrobial activities using the disk diffusion method against the selected bacteria. The complex (b) was a stronger antibacterial agent than the free ligand as well as its corresponding metal salt, and it was more active against the gram-positive than gram-negative bacteria.
