The differences between the pot and the field experiments indicate limited transferability of pot results to field conditions. No synergistic effects of hydrolysates and AMF inoculation on plant growth were observed. Nevertheless, feather hydrolysate augmented AMF root colonisation as well as frequency of arbuscules and vesicles/spores in wheat and quantum yield of photosynthetic apparatus by AMF in barley. Our study also showed, for hitherto unreported, a strong interaction between environmental conditions, biostimulants and fungal disease.
