The results were obtained for 0.00wt%, 0.05wt% and 0.07wt% concentrations of the dopant for 5μm and 12μm thick cells. Fastening of switching time and increase in permittivity of non-doped FLC and nanocomposites as a function of increased cell thickness can be attributed to the change in the anchoring energy and DC conductivity of the non-doped and doped systems. An increase of the spontaneous polarization with concentration of MWCNTs doping can be explained on the basis of π-π stacking between MWCNTs and FLC layers. The increase of the response time with doping concentration may correspond to a strong anchoring energy. Using the MWCNTs as a dopant can be a tool to tune electro-optic of FLC materials to make them usable for photonics.
