Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films are promising for medical applications, especially due to their antibacterial properties. In this work, the adhesion of biomolecules from complex cultivation medium Luria Bertani (LB) on surface terminated DLC films is investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).The DLC films were deposited by DC PACVD method. Their surface termination by H, O or F was carried out by RF plasma in appropriate gas atmosphere (hydrogen, oxygen, carbon tetrafluoride). All functionalized samples were sterilized in autoclave before immersion into LB medium. AFM measurements confirmed the adhesion of ~2 nm thin peptide layer on LB-treated samples. XPS measurements revealed the differences in NH2/NH3 ratios for LB-treated glass and LB-DLC films. In case of oxygen, the dependence of O-H/C=O bond ratio on the surface termination was observed. These indicate that the adhesion of biomolecules from LB medium can be affected by DLC surface termination.
