The prevalence is increasing with age (2), rates increased from approximately 5 000/100 000 in subjects aged less than 75 years to 10 000 or more per 100 000 in those aged 80+(3).The cost of treatment and social services after stroke in the United States exceeds $ 43 billion annually (4), the cost of stroke in EU are estimated of €5000 – 30 000 per patient during the first year after the accident (3).More than 80% of accidents of cerebrovascular disease events are ischemic stroke, the haemorrhagic attacks occur only in 20%.
