The objective of the study is to estimate ecosystem stability, degree of anthropogenic load and the relative tension index of the environmental situation on the study territory. Results demonstrate the average sustainability of 0.8 (middle to high level) and an anthropogenic load of 0.3 (middle level). The ecological situation is estimated as satisfactory. The degradation of conifers indicates a decrease of protective functions of the ecosystem. Our proposed methodology for forest ecosystem state assessment is based on remote sensing data and can be potentially useful for regional and large-scale forest monitoring and management.
