Several regional case-studies are elaborated. In the first section general information about the regions is presented by providing a description of the territory’s geographical characteristics, population distribution and economic situation. In the second section information about the demographic situation and the main demographic processes in the region is described. Special attention is devoted to current policy challenges related to demographic changes. In the third section brief information about pilot action implemented in the region is described. It is focused on explaining the selected problem, the aim of the pilot action, and the results achieved. The knowledge about different patterns and trends of population shrinkage can be used for mutual learning and for the exchange of experiences and best practices on how to mitigate or adapt to ongoing demographic changes in regions.
