    AnotaceThe Global Change Research Centre (Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic) focuses on global change, the carbon cycle, ecophysiology of production processes in plants and atmospheric transport of selected species within the frameworks of Czech and international programmes. Long-term monitoring and research of greenhouse gases (GHG) concentrations and their exchange dynamics belongs among the most important activities of both a network of ecosystem stations and an atmospheric station. The Centre disposes of a well-equipped network of ecosystem stations, with modern and high technological instrumentation for eco-physiological, plant physiological, micrometeorological studies, and estimation of GHG emissions at field conditions. The network of stations represents the main terrestrial ecosystems of the Czech Republic as young and old coniferous forest, deciduous forest, mixed floodplain forest, grassland, wetland and cropland. Two of them are focused on non-CO2 greenhouse gases, especially methane. These are located in Třeboň (wetland) and Lanžhot (mixed floodplain forest). The Atmospheric Station Křešín u Pacova consisting mainly of a 250 m tall atmospheric tower focuses on GHG fluxes and atmospheric transport on the regional to continental scale. The list of species currently monitored or planned to be monitored includes continuous measurements of CO2, CO, CH4, N2O, episodic measurements of SF6, O2/N2, C and O isotopes in CO2, H2, 222Rn, CO2, CO, CH4, N2O, meteorological parameters and planetary boundary layer height. The Atmospheric Station and the Košetice Observatory (run by Czech Hydrometeorological Institute, established in 1988 and specialized in long-term air quality monitoring) form together the Co-located Station Košetice – Křešín u Pacova. This collocated station provides a significant research challenge due to broad spectrum of monitored chemical species and meteorological parameters, provision of data suitable for conducting multi-disciplinary research activities and participation in a number of international programmes and projects (ICOS, InGOS, GMOS, ACTRIS, CLRTAP/EMEP, GAW and ICP-IM).
