The ACPD Symposium (2014) followed the line of previous ones by presenting up-to-date achievements in auxin and cytokinin research including their mutual cross-talk and co-operation with other plant hormones. It becomes increasingly evident that thanks to this complexity the control of an amazingly wide spectrum of developmental processes is possible. The co-operation presumes transport of plant hormones on a cellular, tissue, and whole plant level. Novel approaches presented during the conference to detect and enlighten transport events (for example, PIN vacuolar targeting following protein ubiquitylation, PIN phylogeny with their functional testing and the role of ABCG14 in cytokinin root-to-shoot translocation) represent significant progress in this respect.
