The microreactor technology is an intensively developing field containing various types of microreactor systems possessing many advantageous features. The most important feature is their high active surface-to-volume ratio ensuring the excellent control of the local reaction conditions as well as the high heat, mass and momentum transfer. We present a novel MSR application - the homogeneous catalytic transfer hydrogenation. Catalytic transfer hydrogenations use organic compounds both as solvents and hydrogen sources. These hydrogenations are commonly catalyzed by metallic complexes such as Ru-BINAP referred to be the most active catalyst for obtaining a high enantiomeric excess, yield and activity of enantioselective reactions. We report a study where a glass microfluidic reactor was tested for the model reaction of the hydrogenation of methyl acetoacetate. Obtained experimental results were compared with those of the conventional reactor tests published in literature.
