The paper reviews one of unexplored domains of our common scientific interests with Ante, namely the determination of the parity of Kekulé structures and closely related concept of algebraic structure count. Both our groups have designed original methodologies to determine the parity as well as ASC but unfortunately our efforts never matured to the stage of a joint paper. The main goal of this paper is to pay the debt I feel for the unexplored scientific links with Ante and to demonstrate the use of overlap determinant method, as an alternative to graph-theoretical approaches developed and designed for the determination of parity of Kekulé structures and ASC by Ante and his colleagues in Zagreb group.
