Regionální antologie lidových písní s názvem V Prachaticích za bránou představuje hudební folklor českých obyvatel dvojjazyčné podhorské oblasti mezi Prachaticemi, Vimperkem a Volyní, včetně přilehlého Netolicka. Zatímco německá hudební kultura střední části Šumavského podhůří je již všeobecně známa zejména díky reprezentativní edici Gustava Jungbauera Volkslieder aus dem Böhmerwalde z let 1930–1938, repertoár českých lidových písní nenašel dosud svého vydavatele a zůstal až na výjimky jen v rukopisech. Přitom zde byly od čtyřicátých let 19. století do sedmdesátých let 20. století shromážděny desítky písňových textů a nápěvů. Jejich výběr se stal základem moderní kritické edice pro potřeby školní praxe, hudebních a tanečních souborů i pro širokou veřejnost se zájmem o historii a kulturu Prachaticka a Pošumaví.

V Prachaticích za bránou (Folk Songs from the Prachatice and Šumava Regions as Recorded by 19th and 20th Century Collectors), a regional anthology of folk songs, presents folk music of the Czech population living in the bilingual region of the foothills of the Šumava Mountains, which stretches between the towns of Prachatice, Vimperk and Volyně, and includes the nearby Netolice region as well. The German musical culture native to the central part of the Šumava foothills has been generally well known, having been covered by Gustav Jungbauer´s representative edition, Volkslieder aus dem Böhmerwalde, from 1930–1938; Czech folk songs of the region, on the other hand, have until now remained unpublished. This is all the more surprising given the fact that between the 1840s and 1970s, dozens of song texts and melodies were collected. A selection of these songs was taken as the basis for the present modern critical edition, designed to serve as a repertoire encyclopedia for teachers and learners, music and dance ensembles as well as for the general public with an interest in the history and culture of the Prachatice region and the Šumava foothills.
