    AnotaceCyclic multiple step test in strain control have been performed on cylindrical specimens of cast polycrystalline Inconel 738LC and 792-5A nickel-base superalloys at 800 °C in laboratory atmosphere. Selected hysteresis loops were derived and analysed according to the statistical theory of hysteresis loop. The effective and internal stress components were possible to determine. The effective stress of γ´ precipitate has significant influence on stress-strain response of studied materials. Therefore IN 792-5A exhibits higher stress amplitudes than IN 738LC at approximately same total strain amplitude values, because of significantly higher effective stress of γ´. Cyclic hardening/softening curves and shortened cyclic stress-strain curves were obtained. Cyclic hardening/softening behaviour depends on strain amplitude. Low amplitude straining was characterised by saturation of the stress amplitude. In high amplitude straining slight softening was found. The shortened cyclic stress-strain curves for both materials can be fitted by power law. The curve of the IN 792-5A is shifted to higher stress values. Cyclic stress-strain response is compared in relation to changes of internal and effective stress components and microstructural parameters of the material. Surface relief of gauge length was observed and persistent slip markings were observed.
