Only one example of a steel blade was found, still welded together from several pieces. Roughly a quarter of the Stará Boleslav blades were made of iron. About three-quarters of the blades combine iron and steel, and two-thirds have quenched cutting edges. The assemblage also includes two pattern-welded knives, one of them with a nickel-enriched band in the back of its blade.
