Využití energetických zdrojů záření, především rentgenových a gamma paprsků, příp. částic (urychlené elektrony, protony, alfa částice, neutrony) ve vědeckých, průmyslových, lékařských a dalších aplikacích v posledních desetiletích výrazně narůstá, a proto nabíhá intenzívní výzkum scintilačních materiálů, které tvoří nezbytnou součást jejich detektorů.

Usage of the sources of ionizing radiation (X-ray and gama-ray) and of the accelerated charged particles or of neutrons in the scientific, medical and other applications is increasing in the last few tens of years. That is why the research of new scintillator materials, which are inevitable part of their (scintillation) detectors, goes intensively on.
