The area of lower Danube River drainage is habited by spined loaches C. elongatoides and C. tanaitica, rarely co-occuring in the sympatry. Both species have for long time been in the reproductive contact during (post)glacial Pleistocene periods with each other, giving rise to asexual hybrid biotypes. In the area of southern Danube and Black Sea tributaries in Bulgaria, both species and hybrid biotypes further met the phylogenetically distant species, C. strumicae, as had expanded here from the Balkans Aegean basin postglacially. We found the evidence for intenive hybridisaton with C. strumicae and repeated polyploidisations via incorporations of the new host’s chromosome sets into some asexual genomes resulting in the unique diversity of hybrids.
Oblast povodí dolního Dunaje obývájí sekavci druhu C. elongatoides a C. tanaitica, vzácně přítomní sympatricky. Naše studie prokázala intenzivní hybridizaci hybridů s C. strumicae a opakovanou polyploidizaci inkorporací genomu třetího druhu do hybridního genotypu vedoucí k unikátní diverzitě hybridních biotypů v celé oblasti.
