V případě jižní a jihovýchodní Asie je v tomto ohledu nejdůležitější postava mingského eunucha admirála Zheng Heho, jenž na počátku 15. století vedl sedm námořních výprav do Indického oceánu. Dovolávání se Zheng Heho odkazu a vyzdvihování mingských výprav jako objevných plaveb či poklidných kulturních misí má dosvědčit inherentní čínskou mírumilovnost a ochotu Číny nezištně pomáhat svým sousedům. V rámci čínského příběhu je Zheng He mnohočetnou osobností, jejíž jednotlivé aspekty jsou akcentovány podle konkrétních cílů, jež má daný narativ plnit. Jedním z nich je i muslimské dědictví mingského admirála. Zatímco v rámci čínského příběhu tento aspekt nehraje zásadní roli, v prostředí čínských komunit jihovýchodní Asie nabírá na důležitosti, neboť zásadním způsobem formuje jejich identitu a umožňuje jim najít své místo v dějinách i společnostech jejich domovských zemí, kde jsou pouhou etnickou a náboženskou menšinou. Příspěvek si klade za cíl představit svébytný narativ Zheng Heho jako muslimského věrozvěsta, jenž přispěl k či dokonce inicioval obrácení na islám celé ostrovní jihovýchodní Asie, a analyzovat historické a politicko-sociální pozadí tohoto účelově konstruovaného narativu. Překlad anotace The cultural diplomacy of the PRC often uses purposefully constructed narratives that refer to the great past of imperial China. In the case of South and Southeast Asia, the most important figure in this regard is the Ming eunuch Admiral Zheng He, who led seven naval expeditions to the Indian Ocean at the beginning of the 15th century. Invoking Zheng He's legacy and highlighting the Ming expeditions as voyages of discovery or peaceful cultural missions should demonstrate China's inherent peacefulness and willingness to selflessly help its neighbours. Within the framework of the Chinese story, Zheng He is a multiple personality whose individual aspects are accentuated according to the specific goals that the given narrative is supposed to fulfil. One of them is the Muslim heritage of the Ming admiral. While this aspect does not play a major role in the Chinese story, in the environment of the Chinese communities of Southeast Asia it gains importance, as it fundamentally shapes their identity and allows them to find their place in the history and societies of their home countries, where they are a mere ethnic and religious minority. The paper aims to present the unique narrative of Zheng He as a Muslim preacher who contributed to or even initiated the conversion to Islam of the entire insular Southeast Asia, and to analyse the historical and political-social background of this purposefully constructed narrative.
