The aim of this Bachelor thesis was to develop scientific teaching material for use in Virtual and Augmented Reality. Through iterature research, the reasons why immersive technologies are still hardly used in education as well as for the purpose
of science communication were investigated. Subsequently, three applications were developed within the development environment Unity 3D, limited to the scientific field of „dipole-dipole and other interactions in self-assembled molecular systems“. An Augmented Reality application was developed to visualise the twelve isomers of the molecule carborane-thiol, furthermore a desktop program was created to illustrate internal system influences and alignment dependencies of two dipoles among one and another. Since Virtual Reality is distinguishing for immersive technologies, a virtual learning environment was created to support interactive teaching. This Bachelor thesis is interesting for students and teachers in the fields of chemistry and extended reality software engineering as well as for students in the teaching profession.
