It was observed that standard cyclic voltammetry was not sensitive enough to detect 0.1 mM Cd2+ in 0.1 M HCl with carbon based electrodes, however by using differential pulse voltammetry we were able to detect the contaminants even at such low concentrations. We show that for a complex solution consisting of more contaminants (Cd2+, Pb2+ and Cu2+) the BDD electrodes are suitable to recognize each of the contaminants, however their detection limits are influenced by overlapping of their voltammetric peaks or by splitting of the original voltammetric peaks, which is assigned to underpotential deposition of metals on the BDD electrode. Moreover, influence of matrix solution (pure water, spiked tap water, real wastewater sample) to detection limits will be discussed too.
