What are the reasons for the excellent sensitivity of CPS for changes in protein structure? In CPSA the potential changes are much faster (if no electrode process is going on as surface denaturation) than in usual a.c. voltammetry. On the other hand using a.c. impedance we obtained excellent correlation between the adsorption/desorption behavior of alpha-synuclein (involved in Parkinson disease) in the early stage of its aggregation and changes in the ability of alpha synuclein to catalyze the hydrogen evolution on the mercury electrode.
