This process, based on interaction of photolysis intermediates and excited states with dissolved compounds is prospective for nanoparticle preparation on industrial scale. Based on our long term experience with operation of UV pilot plant, we propose an UV light-based technology for syntheses of nano-dimensional metal oxides (case study for zinc oxides and yttrium aluminium garnets) feasible in industrial scale. Depending on a solution composition, UV irradiation leads to the formation of gel-like nanoscaled product, it can be either used as is, or further processed, usually dried in air and annealed heat-treated at elevated temperatures (300-1200 °C) creating a fine powder ready for subsequent use in different applications.
