The main power limiting factors are associated with thermal and temperature effects. In this paper, recently reported temperature-dependent thulium cross sections are reviewed as well as application of these cross-section spectra for prediction of thulium fiber laser operation using two models. Firstly, closed-form expressions for the laser threshold and slope efficiency of thulium fiber lasers pumped at 790 nm by an ideal and realistic two-for-one process are derived. Secondly, comprehensive spatially and spectrally resolved numerical model is used Pracoviště Ústav fotoniky a elektroniky Kontakt Petr Vacek, vacek@ufe.cz, Tel.: 266 773 413, 266 773 438, 266 773 488 Rok sběru 2024 Elektronická adresa https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10207214
