However raw material economy is one of the ways how to approach them. There are considerable differences within raw material economy during Prehistory of central Europe. There is lack of high quality raw materials in Bohemia. For some periods is characteristic use of raw materials imported from distant sources, during other periods use of local raw materials of lower quality is more usual. Sometimes raw material composition is seen as a chronological marker. We present raw material composition of published Late Palaeolithic collections and compare it with wider frame of the precedent and consecutive periods. During Upper Palaeolithic period it was necessary to use raw materials suitable for production of longer blades and they were often transported over long distances. During Mesolithic period production was focused on the microlithic industries and within territory of Bohemia there was dominant use of the local raw materials. Between these two periods, where raw material economy (together with many other characteristics) is completely different, is Late Palaeolithic period which lasted cca 2000 years. We focus on the situation during Late Palaeolithic period when this shift in raw material economy started to track origins of this change. There are not many sites which were C14 dated and we focus on these contexts, which can form a base for further searching of the point, when economy started to change.
