Liposomes are very useful tool for the construction of vaccination systems because offer the possibility to associate or entrap simultaneously more than one type molecule, i.e., co-association of hydrophilic or hydrophobic adjuvants (monophosphoryl lipid A, CpG oligonucleotides, muramyl glycopeptides and their lipophilic analogs with soluble or membrane antigens. A special attention is devoted to non-pyrogenic normuramyl glycopeptides and their lipophilic analogs. Preparation of liposomes presenting metalochelating anchors and grafting of hys-tagged recombinant antigens onto their surface are also broadly discussed.
