In this paper, we report on development of a laboratory technique that secures high survival of tropical fly, /Drosophila melanogaster/ when most of its body water is frozen. We developed the optimal acclimation and freezing protocol and fed the larvae diets augmented with 31 different amino-compounds, administered in different concentrations. Proline- and arginine-augmented diets showed the highest potential to improve freeze-survival of larvae.
