After a decade of rapid expansion in various fields of research in Taiwan, digital humanities methods have become an increasingly influential approach in the study of Taiwanese literature as well. Together with the Taiwanese Association of Digital Humanities and the Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the National Museum of Taiwanese Literature jointly organized a workshop in Tainan, Taiwan, to prepare the establishment of a Taiwanese Biographical Database (TBDB). This database will supply researchers with a much-needed tool to investigate sociological trends across large swathes of the literary field and analyze how these unfolded in time and space. The database will be specifically designed to aid in the prosopographical study of Taiwanese historical and literary figures from pre-modern times until the 1960s
